Imagine that these are your only sources of water for drinking, bathing, watering your garden and animals. The one shallow well in Barlonyo is dry in the summer leaving residents to pack water for a long ways through the heat. Women and children suffer not only from the affects of bad water but from the affects of packing it long distances. You can see quality of the water in the photo of the spring below.

Water Wells for Northern Uganda
The need for water wells in Northern Uganda is tremendous. There are many villages without wells. Because the access to clean fresh water is hardly available the majority of the community suffer from water borne diseases like worms, typhoid, diahhrea and malaria.
Major sources of water in these areas are supplied mainly from seasonal streams or swamps that receive rain water during peak rainy seasons of March through May and August through October. This spring was more merciful but the need for safe water is no less desperately needed.
