1Th5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your WHOLE spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Good News Ministry [GNM] in conjunction with WAWC Bible school, Baguio City, Philippines is presently in the process of organizing and preparing for a Medical Mission in the Philippines February 2011. After 17 trips of teaching ministry to the Philippines, the long awaited possibility of conducting medical missions along with the Gospel of Jesus Christ is finally on the horizon. It requires a great deal of advance preparation involving the 1) recruitment of doctors, dentists, nurses, ministers and various assistants; 2) the purchasing of prescription and non-prescription drugs, [which constitutes the largest share of expense] and a variety of health supplements; 3) obtaining of the required materials and equipment such as a generator, sound system, adult and infant scales and food items.
The exact location demands a bit of serious consideration due to the time of year, the nature of the topography, accessibility of remote areas, and hostile people who are in opposition to Christianity. The two most well known hostile groups are militant anti-government communist rebels known as the New Peoples Army [NPA] and militant Muslim Moral Islamic Liberation Front [MILF] , who are intent on taking over much of the Philippines South of Manila.
The medical mission endeavors to administer to both the spiritual and physical needs of the villagers in a specific target area. It is usually a three day event. The first day is consumed with travel to the village [called a Barrio] and initial set up for the following day’s mission work. When the villagers arrive in the morning they will be instructed in what to do and what to expect. Initial work involves the taking of blood pressure, weighing of individuals, making out brief medical history forms, and determining the type of treatment to be administered. Following this procedure, individuals will be given a color coded numbered cards designating the assigned MD or DDS and numerical order to receive treatment.
During the waiting time, adults will be grouped in a convenient place set up to administer the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the teaching and preaching of the Word of God. Several young ministers will be assigned to minister Christ to the children using songs, skits, and games. Time will also be taken to administer spiritual healing wherever needed. The Greek word for Salvation is sozo and includes both spiritual and physical healing. 3 Jn.2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in HEALTH, just as your soul prospers. God is interested in blessing us in spirit, soul and body. We are honored by the Lord to be able to minister in His capacity.
