Help us provide a MOBILE CLINIC in Northern Uganda.
What is a Mobile Clinic and Why is it needed?
Mobile Clinic is literally a vehicle equipped with medical treatment facilities, much like an ambulance, but with the ability to do regular rounds of medical treatments to rural areas. For example, one day could be designated for the village of Barlonyo. During this day children would be treated for things such as malaria, infections, while mothers-to-be would be given prenatal care and AID/HIV patients given their medications, etc. The next day another village would be driven to, cared for, and so on.
For special medical needs, such as outbreaks of disease, victims of flood, fire, or other disasters, the Mobile could be sent to the specific area.
Rural citizens are desperate for medical facilities. They can not make it to the city for medical attention when they are ill and there is not public transit to larger towns with facilities for many of the villages.
Prenatal care is to be one of the priorities with our Mobile Clinic.
Imagine, you have treatable malaria but no way to get to a facility for treatment. By the time you are able to get there your life can not be restored.
Think about watching your child die of a totally treatable disease, or, if you are a child, your Mom or Dad dies before your eyes.
With the ability to provide regular simple treatments many lives could can be saved via preventative medicine, pregnancy care rounds, and AIDS/HIV care. We want our mobile unit equipped to do minor operations, setting of broken bones, etc., on the spot, so that even more serious problems can be dealt with effectively.
Come alongside us with this need. We hope to put a medical mobile clinic in Lira to work alongside a Clinic being established there. This mobile unit will be directed by the clinic and regular rounds set up to aid in the tremendous needs of the rural areas.
